Dr Fares Souhaid, leader of the multi-confessional Lebanese Opposition front « Likaa Saydet el Jabal », made a
n unprecedented appeal to President Michel Aoun to be « the Arab Christian president who opens the road to Jerusalem for everyone »!
In his tweet, translated from Arabic, Dr. Fares Souhaid says:
« Jews of Syria are returning to the Levant with tourist visas, as part of an official (Syrian government) arrangement!
“I invite President Aoun to celebrate Christmas in Jerusalem, thus making Jerusalem a city open to all believers, Jews, Christians and Muslims.”
« Thus, it would be an Arab Christian president who opens the road to Jerusalem for everyone! »
Dr. Souhaid had taken part, four years ago, in a Beirut conference which called for opening the frontiers with Israel for Christian pilgrims to Jerusalem. The conference included Palestinian speakers who, remarkably, supported the call for ending the 70-years old closure of the border with Israel.
