Lebanese Opposition: New government imposed by Iran, France accomplice

By Shaffaf on 14 September 2021 Headlines

In a communiqué commenting the formation of a new Lebanese government, Likaa Saydet al-Jabal », an offshoot of the historical March 14 forces and an active national and multi-confessional front, declared that « the Iranian occupation, with the support of foreign powers, France in particular, has imposed upon the Lebanese people a government presided by Prime Minister Najib Mikati- a government which ensures the reproduction of a political class that is loyal to Iran’s interests.

Local parties also contributed to making this deal possible, including the support of the « club » of four previous heads of government and other political forces under the pretext of “political realism and respect of the balance of power »- thus ignoring the insurrection of the Lebanese on October 17, 2019 and even practically declaring victory over it.

    Adding that:

« While the Lebanese expect the new government to find solutions to get them out of their catastrophic situation, they are aware that the new compromise shall consolidate Iranian hegemony over national decision-making. The Lebanese feel humiliated and oppressed as they watch the majority of politicians bow down to the so-called « axis of rejection », extending from Beirut to Damascus, Baghdad and Yemen.

To the Lebanese people, the Likaa declares that « Lebanon is under Iranian occupation. Liberation is a function of our unity. We shall persist in our efforts to gather the forces committed to the national Lebanese cause until the country becomes once more the homeland for all, and a free, sovereign, and independent Arab nation. »
