Message from Ayman Asfari: Maroun Semaan

By Ayman Asfari on 2 May 2017 Features

    Dear Colleagues,

It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that I inform you that Maroun Semaan passed away yesterday, the 1st of May, in a hospital in Boston US after fighting courageously for more than a year a very aggressive type of cancer.

As many of you would know, Maroun was my business partner when we founded Petrofac International in 1991. Throughout this period Maroun had a tremendous impact on establishing the business and developing it over more than two decades. He retired at the end of 2013 after serving Petrofac in many positions including Group COO and Group President.

I will miss Maroun as a business partner and a very close friend and confidant, but mostly as a great human being whom I was privileged to interact with for decades. I am sure many of you who have known him will equally miss him. Our hearts and prayers go to his wife Tania, his daughters Nour, Tala and Maya and the rest of his family.

May Maroun’s soul rest in eternal peace.

    Ayman Asfari
    Group Chief Executive
