    March 14 Appeal to the Lebanese People: Back to the Martyrs Square!

    To abort the putsch led by the “Lebanese Republic’s Supreme Leader”, to safeguard the republic against the terrorism of an armed party, to recover the stolen elections, to achieve independence, to express our rejection of a return of the Syrian tutelage and its men, and to say “no” to the “W ilayt-e_Faqih ” in Lebanon:

    We call upon you today… we call upon all those who believe in democracy, all who crave freedom and reject totalitarianism… to defend the republic, the charter of co-existence, and the sovereignty of Lebanon.

    Today, we are facing a putsch disguised by constitutional formalities, where one armed party is attempting to take hold of state institutions;

    The ‘ arms party ‘ has dropped any pretense of living in compliance with the rules democracy;

    its weapons are used to impose our leaders, to confiscate our country and to kidnap our democracy. They are a threat to our civil peace.

    Today, for a Lebanon under one fully sovereign state, capable of taking fateful decisions on its own, and for a Lebanon governed by one constitutional legitimacy, and for us to have one army which has the exclusive right to hold weapons and to defend the state;

    Today, for an Arab Lebanon, rather than for a Lebanon used as a spearhead against the Arabs or as an open arena for regional adventures;

    Today, for a Lebanon to committed to International Law, and at peace with the world and with itself rather than a rogue and isolated state;

    Today, for Lebanon of dialogue and for the Islamic-Christian partnership defined by the Taef Accords and reinforced in the “Independence revolution”.

    Today, in order to liberate Lebanon from the hegemony of one party and to foil its hardly desguised plans for a dictatorship in Lebanon;

    To defend the Lebanese state againt ‘a state within a state’;

    For justice, sovereignty and independence of Lebanon:

    We call upon you to return to the Martyr Square, the freedom square.

    The time has come to show our determination and will;

    People of Lebanon,

    This evening at 18:00 Let us stand by our martyrs, Rafiq Hariri, Samir Kassir, Gebran Tueini,, Pierre Gemayel, Walid Eido, Antoine Ghanem, Georges Hawi, Wissam Eid, Francois Hajj, and Bassel Fleihan.

    Let us openly declare:

    NO to the cancellation of the International Tribunal;

    NO to imposing a security regime on the Lebanese state;

    NO to the return of Syrian tutelage;

    Yes to the state and the state only;

    Yes to the tribunal and to justice;

    They will not pass… they will not pass… they will not pass.

    Come back to the Martyrs Square.

    Once mor, let us begin and continue.
