Lebanese oppsition : we accuse the President, PM and Speaker of high treason

The multi-confesstional opposition front, Likaa Saydet al-Jabal, an offshoot of the historic March 14 movement, following its meeting on September 20, issued the following statement:

The Lebanese were appalled by the announcement of “a violation of the sovereignty of Lebanon” by prime minister Najib Mikati, who simply declared “his pain” – which is of no use to the Lebanese people.

This public and explicit violation was carried out by the Hezbollah militia which imported oil from Iran without the consent of the Lebanese state, noting that the party’s secretary general had announced his intention several weeks ago. The reaction of the Minister of Energy at the time was simply that there had been no formal request by the Lebanese government.

What made matters worse and constituted a violation of national sovereignty was the fact that trucks crossed the border from Syria through illegal crossings. The convoy was even accompanied by heavy celebration fire from machine guns, medium weapons and grenades.

The Saydet El Jabal Gathering accuses the President of the Republic,  the Speaker of the Parliament and the Prime Minister of high treason because of their absolute and unprecedented silence on the violation of Lebanese sovereignty.

While the President of the Republic is the only one of the three who is required to take an oath to respect the constitution and the laws of the Republic, the Prime Minister is responsible for the implementation of the constitution and the laws, while the Speaker of Parliament is responsible for the proper implementation of the constitution and laws; he is also responsible in the event of their non-application.

As a result, the three highest officials have clearly and publicly violated their most important constitutional and legal obligations, namely the preservation of sovereignty for the benefit of Iran and its Hezbollah proxy,

If the three highest officials in the land do not deal swiftly with this blatant violation of Lebanese constitution and laws, we will firmly and clearly accuse each of them of high treason and demand that they be brought to justice.
