بيان بشأن البطريرك العراقى لويس روفائيل ساكو، ودعوة عامة للتوقيع

 

يدين الموقعون على هذا البيان مرسوم رئيس الجمهورية العراقى عبد اللطيف رشيد بسحب المرسوم الجمهورى رقم 147 لسنة 2013 والخاص بتعيين الكاردينال العراقى لويس روفائيل ساكو بطريركا للكنيسة الكلدانية الكاثوليكية فى العراق وحول العالم.

 

كما يدينون حملة التشويه المستمرة منذ شهور طويلة فى وسائل إعلام عراقية حكومية وموجهة لإغتيال البطريرك معنويا،وكذلك تواطئ الدولة العراقية مع زعيم مليشيا ،متهم دوليا بإرتكاب جرائم ضد الإنسانية، ضد البطريرك ساكو.

ويعتبر الموقعون أن مرسوم رئيس الجمهورية والحملة المصاحبة له موجه ضد المسيحيين العراقيين لإرهابهم ودفعهم للهجرة القسرية بغرض الأستحواذ على ممتلكاتهم،كما أنه يمثل إعتداء على الحرية الدينية التى يكفلها الدستور العراقى فى المادتين 42 و 43.

ويوجه الموقعون التحية والدعم للبطريرك ساكو لإعلانه كلمة الحق والدفاع عن شعبه المضطهد،ودفاعه عن أملاك المسيحيين العراقيين وأملاك الكنيسة الكلدانية.

ويرى الموقعون أن ما حدث للبطريرك ساكو وللمسيحيين فى العراق هو امتداد لما قامت به داعش عام 2014 لإجبار المسيحيين على الهجرة القسرية والإستيلاء على ممتلكاتهم.

ويطالب الموقعون بـ:-

– سحب المرسوم الجمهورى رقم 31 لسنة 2023 الذى صدر فى 3 يوليو 2023.

– ضمان عودة آمنة للبطريرك إلى كرسيه فى بغداد وتقديم الحماية الواجبة له لكى يمارس دوره الدينى والروحى والإدارى فى الاشراف على ممتلكات الكنيسة الكلدانية.

– التأكيد على مسؤولية الحكومة العراقية على حماية ارواح المسيحيين وممتلكاتهم،وإعادة الممتلكات التى تم الإستيلاء عليها منذ 2014 حتى يتمكن المهجرين قسريا من العودة لمنازهم وأعمالهم.

إن ما قام به رئيس الجمهورية هو غير مسبوق فى تاريخ العراق،ونحن نتضامن مع البطريرك ساكو والشعب المسيحى فى العراق فى ضمان حقوقهم الكاملة فى العبادة والحرية الدينية وحقوق المواطنة على أرضهم التاريخية.

Statement Supporting Iraqi Patriarch Louis Raphael Sako (Add your signatures)

 

We, the undersigned organizations and individuals, are writing to express our outrage and condemnation of decree No. 31 of 2023 issued by Iraqi president, Abdul Latif Rashid, revoking Republican Decree No. 147 of 2013, which recognized Iraqi Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako as Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church in Iraq and worldwide.

We also condemn the relentless smear campaign and character assassination strategies, implemented by State-controlled media in Iraq against the Patriarch. Furthermore, we denounce the collusion between the State and a known militia leader—one internationally accused of committing crimes against humanity—and specifically against Patriarch Sako.

The undersigned believe that the President’s decree and concomitant campaign are intimidation tactics employed against Iraqi Christians, driving them to forced migration, in order to seize their properties. It is also reflective of an attack on religious freedom, which is protected by Iraq’s constitution, per Articles 42 and 43.

The undersigned would like to express our support and commendation of the forced removal of Patriarch Sako for speaking truth to power, defending his persecuted community, and safeguarding the properties of Iraqi Christians, and those of the Chaldean Church.

We believe that what Patriarch Sako and Christians have experienced in Iraq is an extension of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria’s (“ISIS”) coercive strategies initiated in 2014, which were designed to drive Christians to forced migration, and seize their properties.

The undersigned request the following:

· To revoke the Republican Decree issued on July 3, 2023 No.31 of 2023 .

· To ensure the safe return of the Patriarch to his seat in Baghdad and provide him with due protection so that he can fulfill his religious and spiritual role, as well as his administrative duties in overseeing the properties of the Chaldean Church.

· To stress the Iraqi government’s duty to protect the lives and properties of the Christian community; and to return the properties that have been seized since 2014, so that the forcibly displaced individuals can return to their homes and businesses.

· The action taken by the Iraqi president is unprecedented in Iraq’s history. We stand in solidarity with Patriarch Sako and Christians in Iraq, to ensure they obtain full religious freedom and citizenship rights, including the ability to worship in their historical land.
