Credible Syrian sources revealed that stirn warnings by Syrian minister of interior Ibrahim Shaar concerning the town of Jisr al-Shughour and the use of Helicopters against protestors are related to the capture by protestors of six snipers of Iranian nationalily. Protestors in Jisr al-Shughour are intent of delivering their captives to Turkish authorities.

Sources were not able to confirm if the Iranian snipers have already reached Turkey, but said that Syrian authorities shall go to any measure to prevent the extradition of the Iranians to nearby Turkey.

Sources added that government reports claiming 80 policemen and security forces were killed in Jisr al-Shugur are a cover to the authorities desperate attempts to prevent the transfer of the Iranians to Turkey.

Syria says it will deal ‘decisively’ with attacks

BEIRUT – Syria’s Interior Minister says the state will deal strongly and “decisively” with armed attacks on security forces.

Ibrahim Shaar says “we will not be silent” about attacks against the state, comments that appeared to be a prelude to an even stronger government crackdown against a popular uprising that began in mid-March.

He spoke in a terse statement broadcast on Syrian state television Monday after government reports that 80 policemen and security forces were killed in an ambush and confrontations with armed men in a tense northern town.
The reports said the armed groups in Jisr al-Shughour attacked a security post and set fire to government buildings.
